Patient Coordinator

Akeeloe joined us in 2018 and orchestrates the daily operations of the dental office to ensure satisfied patients, staff, and doctors. She interacts with patients on a daily basis, handling from start to finish any concerns that they may have. There’s always a solution – and she helps find the one that meets your needs.

Akeeloe and her husband have threebeautiful children. She enjoys the outdoors, including long walks and sitting on her porch to watch nature. As a working mother, evenings and weekends with her family are most precious.

Jennifer “JD”

Patient Coordinator

Jennifer joined our team in 2013. She is a dedicated professional with history of top quality service and customer satisfaction. JD is a relationship-builder with excellent organizational strengths and work ethics.

She communicates with you about your treatment plans, affordable financial options, and schedules your treatment.

Hygiene

Shelly

Registered Dental Hygienist

Shelly provides patient care from your initial office appointment through treatment and ongoing maintenance care. She also assists with X-rays, teeth cleanings, and periodontal (gum) care.

Shelly is married and has three adult children. She enjoys time with family, entertaining guests, yard work, reading, cooking, sewing, and quilting. Shelly and her family have participated in dental mission trips to Nicaragua since 2003.

Alina

Periodontal Therapist/ Registered Dental Hygienist

Alina focuses on creating genuine and lasting relationships with her patients. Her gentle and kind demeanor puts patients at ease and her attention to detail is reflected in her work. Keeping up to date with the latest in dental advancements is important to Alina, and she spends numerous hours a year attending continuing education courses and local study groups.

Outside the office, Alina is an avid animal welfare advocate and dog rescuer. She also enjoys spending time with her two dogs, cultural travel and events, gastronomy, and playing tennis.

Lab

Rick

Certified Dental Technician / Ceramist

Rick fabricates your dental prostheses, including crowns, veneers, dental implants, and bridgework. He provides chairside assistance to your dentist to help ensure that your procedure is properly shaded and fitted.

Rick is a sports fan and enjoys traveling, music, cooking, and time with friends.

John

Dental Lab Technician

John provides fabrication for your dental appliances, including crowns, bridges, dentures, retainers, nightguards, and implants. He has worked with Smiles International since 1985.

John is married and has two children and one grandchild. He enjoys watching football, playing basketball, watching cooking shows, working on his car, and spending time with his family and granddaughter.

Olga

Licensed Dental Assistant

Olga has been a dental assistant since 1996. She was born and raised in Russia before becoming a US citizen in 1994. Olga received dental assistant certification from NOVA, has x-ray certification, and licenced as extended duty denal assistant. She prepares you for your dental and surgical procedures, assists your dentist, takes X-rays, creates temporary crowns, and provides you with patient education.

Olga is married and has a son and a family dog named Ribs. She enjoys cooking, long walks on the beach, and exercise.

Taka

Licensed Dental Assistant

Taka studied and received training as a dental assistant at Okinawa Dental Hygiene School in Japan before moving to Virginia. She prepares you for your dental and surgical procedures, assists your dentist, takes X-rays, creates temporary crowns, and provides you with patient education.

Taka lives in Herndon, is married, and has a Maltese dog named Chibi. She enjoys yoga and has practiced Bikram yoga for five years.

Asmaa

Licensed Dental Assistant

Asmaa has a certification in dental assistance from the dental assistant national boards, and she is also a dentist from Sudan. She'll be there to prepare you for any procedure you might need, assist your dentist, take your X-rays, and provide you with patient education.

Asmaa lives in Alexandria with her siblings. She enjoys reading, drawing, taking long walks, and loves cats.

Joy

Licensed Dental Assistant

As a dental assistant, Joy sets up rooms, prepares patients for treatment, and explains what will happen during their procedure. She enjoys making people smile and helping patients feel safe, comfortable, and at home in our office.

When she’s not in the office, Joy enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also loves trying new restaurants!
